Italian menswear apparel brand Boggi Milano has fallen victim to a ransomware attack, which resulted in the theft of about 40 gigabytes of corporate data, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday citing sources familiar with the incident.

Boggi Milano is one of the best known premium Italian menswear brands. Founded in 1939, the company operates over 190 shops in more than 38 countries across the world.

The company confirmed it was hit by the ransomware attack and said that it didn’t believe the incident had any significant impact and that it was cooperating with authorities. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

The culprit behind this attack appears to be the Ragnarok ransomware group. On their dark web site the group said that it compromised Boggi Milano servers and stole about 40 gigabytes of corporate data including human resource files such as salary information.

“The people familiar with the matter confirmed that it was a ransomware attack and that 40 gigabytes of data was stolen,” Bloomberg said.

It is not clear how hackers had managed to compromise the servers, or how much ransom they demanded.
